Will the iPhone 3G ever have an application which completes with the Dash Express?

I want to get an iPhone, and wonder how do people carry it? I keep my current phone in my jeans pocket (not the back pocket), but it is a lot smaller than the iPhone. I heard the iPhone is kinda fragile because it has a glass screen, and some people have cracked it before. Do you keep your iPhone in your jeans pocket? If not, where?
